NJ FMBA Education & Training Division Thermal Imaging Under Live Fire Training

  • Union County Fire Academy Drill Ground 710 Lower Road Linden, NJ, 07036 United States (map)

Fire Training & Consultants, LLC delivered a basic thermal imaging course for NJ FMBA members in partnership with the NJ FMBA Education & Training Committee and the Union County Fire Academy.

This live-fire program focused on the practical use of department-issued thermal imaging cameras in realistic training conditions. Participants reviewed the fundamentals of TIC operation, including color palettes, temperature modes, sensitivity modes, and application modes. Members then applied those concepts during hands-on evolutions involving size-up, search and rescue, fire attack support, fire location, convection current recognition, and directional heat analysis.

The course provided firefighters from departments across New Jersey with a stronger understanding of how to interpret thermal imaging information and apply it safely and effectively during fireground operations.
