Thermal Imaging For Fire Academy Instructors

This instructor-level course prepares fire academy personnel to teach and safely integrate thermal imaging cameras (TICs) into recruit training in accordance with current NFPA standards. Participants will review thermal imaging science, camera capabilities and limitations, interpretation of thermal data, and appropriate use during training evolutions.

Emphasis is placed on instructor responsibilities, risk management, curriculum integration, and the development of standardized procedures for academy use. Upon completion, instructors will be equipped to confidently teach TIC fundamentals and ensure safe, consistent, and effective use of thermal imaging technology in recruit programs.
