We will be presenting Elevator Emergencies for the Gordons Corner Fire Company.
This training session is designed to provide firefighters and company officers with a practical understanding of how to safely and effectively operate at elevator-related emergencies. Students will review elevator system components, common types of elevator incidents, initial size-up considerations, firefighter safety concerns, and the decision-making process needed to manage these calls with control and confidence.
The class will focus on recognizing hazards, establishing command, controlling utilities, communicating with trapped occupants, coordinating with building representatives or elevator technicians, and determining when firefighter intervention is appropriate. Emphasis will be placed on safe operations, avoiding unnecessary risk, and understanding the limitations of fire department actions during elevator rescues.
